Russia launches record number drones in attack on Ukraine

On Nov. 10, ‘s Air Force posted on Facebook that Russian forces launched a new record of 145 drones overnight at Ukraine and shot down 62 drones.

Air defense destroyed drones the areas of Odesa and Kyiv. Ukrainian forces used antiaircraft missiles and electronic warfare units.

Odesa suffered damage to apartment buildings and private property, but there were no reported fatalities. Air defense in Kyiv shot down about a dozen drones overnight, but the was spared any damage.

“Recently the enemy has changed its tactics in using drones. “All components of the Ukrainian engaged in the airspace are responding in an appropriate and efficient manner to new challenges,” Serhii Pokko, the head of Kyiv’s City Military Administration wrote on Telegram.

Of the 67 that were lost, 10 flew in to Moldovan, Belarussian, and Russian airspace.

The General Staff reported that Russia has increased its in recent months. It launched more than 2,00 strike drones against Ukraine during October, breaking the previous record of nearly 700 drones set in September.

Moscow has reduced the use of missiles that are more powerful and harder to intercept. Experts who spoke with the said that this could be a preparation for a massive attack, rather than any kind of restraint by the Kremlin.
