The United Nations in Georgia is deeply saddened by the tragic deaths caused by the landslide that occurred in Shovi, Racha in Georgia on 3rd August. The UN offers its deepest condolences, especially to those who lost family members due to this tragedy.
“Our hearts go to those who have not been found, the injured and the survivors. We are aware that certain groups, such as women and children, are more vulnerable to the effects of disasters.
We salute the bravery of first responders, police, and rescuers who continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of all those affected.
The UN is in solidarity with Georgians during this difficult time. We are ready to assist the government, local authorities and humanitarian partners to coordinate efforts to increase resilience of communities at-risk of natural hazards.
