Michael Roth, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the German Parliament (Bundestag), said this during his speech to the protest rally held in Tbilisi.
“We are happy to be back in Tbilisi, the real capital of Europe. I know some people in your government, especially those in the ruling party and government, are not happy with our visit. But we are not enemies. Michael Roth said, “We are friends of a free and democratic Georgia in the heartland of Europe. This is your place. You deserve it.”
Michael Roth said that they are criticised for interfering with the internal affairs of the country.
“Is it an interference to meet with the President of your own country?” With a brave, loyal lady from Europe who will fight for the future of your nation? Is it an intrusion to meet you as citizens of a proud nation fighting for European values and democracy, and fair and free elections? Michael Roth said, “It is not about interference, but the common future of a united Europe. That is why we are here.”
