The Kremlin has denied that Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 7. The claim is described as “pure fiction” by the Kremlin.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the call between Trump and Putin took place on November 10. During the conversation, Trump advised Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine and highlighted Washington’s substantial military presence in Europe.
**Kremlin Spokesperson Denies Reports**
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, dismissed the reports of the phone call on November 11. He described the claim as “the most vivid illustration of the quality of information that is published today”.
Peskov said: “This is a complete lie. This is a pure fabrication, it is false information.”
**Ukraine Denies Being Informed About Phone Call**
The Ukrainian government has also denied being informed about the alleged phone call between Trump and Putin. Heorhii Tykhyi, spokesperson for the foreign ministry, told Reuters: “Reports claiming that the Ukrainian side had been informed of the alleged phone call in advance are false.”
**Concerns Over US-Ukraine Relations**
The alleged phone call occurred amid widespread uncertainty regarding Trump’s approach in realigning U.S. relations with global allies and adversaries following his election victory on November 5.
Trump has pledged to end the war in Ukraine immediately throughout his campaign, but hasn’t elaborated on any specific plans.
