According to the UN‘s World Population Prospects (WPP), the World Population Review states that the Georgian population will reach 3,807,583 by October 2024. With a growth rate 0.06%, Georgia will rank 179th globally. The UN says that if the current rate does not change, the Georgians’ population will drop by almost half in 40 years.

Since January 1, the net change in population is -276. The last documented decrease of the Georgian population occurred in 2020, when the net change compared to 2019 was -0.3%. Since 2023, however, the birth rate is increasing, growing by 0.7% in comparison to 2022. This brings the population up to 3,807 490 people.
The UN says that the Georgian population is expected to drop by almost half in 40 years if the current rate does not change. The UN estimates that the current birth rate and immigration rate will continue to cause the population to decline. By 2050, this annual rate will be -0.55%.
If these forecasts are accurate then the following interpretations could be made:
By 2025, Georgia’s population will reach 3,806,670.
* By 2030, 3 748 350.
By 2040, there will be 3,576,930.
By 2050, there will be 3,393,665.
The World Population Review, which is based on a UN analytical report, offers possible explanations for the issue. These include the preference for baby boy, leading to excessive abortions and financial difficulties that prevent families from having more children.
The World Population Review stated that “one of the ways to solve population stagnation would be to provide social benefits and assistance to families with multiples children, as well pregnant women.”
