The Norwegian Ambassador is summoned by the MFA after Saakashvili was awarded a HR Prize

The Ministry of Affairs of Georgia summoned the Ambassador of Norway, Helene Sand Andersen.
According to the agency’ report, the meeting between the Norwegian Ambassador and Mikheil was in relation to the Norwegian ‘s awarding of a prize for the promotion of Human Rights to Mikheil Sakaashvili as well as the comments made by him.
The Ministry of states that “the Ambassador was presented with the negative attitude of Georgian side because of the mentioned fact which is related to violations of human rights by the authorities and abuse of power during the rule of Mikheil Saakashvili. Saakashvili as well as a number of members of his government were convicted or already served their sentences for these crimes.”
The agency claims that the action of the conservative party in Norway is not conducive to depolarization of the , and insults the victims and their families who were victims of criminal acts committed under Saakashvili’s rule.
According to the , the Ambassador said at the meeting that the awarding of Mikheil Saakashvili did not represent the Norwegian government’s position and was an initiative of a particular political party.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that “at the meeting, both parties confirmed the friendly relations that exist between Georgia and Norway and expressed their willingness to develop cooperation between the two countries in the future.”

Garibashvili, in a statement to journalists on the issue of Saakashvili’s award in Norway, said that Saakashvili was the creator of a murderous system.
He claimed that “handing said prize to Saakashvili would be the same as if an award was given to Breivik who was convicted for murdering many people.
