European Union Delivers Over 980,000 Shells to Ukraine
The European Union has delivered over 980,000 artillery rounds to Ukraine this year. This is out of a total of 1 million shells that were promised.
Josep Borrell, the head of the European Union, said that there was a delay in delivering these shells due to unexpected problems with production capacity.
Despite this delay, Mr. Borrell believes that the EU will deliver over 1.5 million shells by the end of the year. This is because other countries are also helping Ukraine with ammunition supplies.
One example of this is an initiative launched by Czechia to buy artillery shells for Ukraine. This initiative has been supported by several countries, including Canada and Germany.
Czechia has already delivered 50,000 shells to Ukraine. The country also plans to produce ammunition in Ukraine next year.
A group of activists in Slovakia collected over €4 million to support this initiative. However, the Slovak government refused to participate.
In an interview, the Defense Minister of Czechia said that her country is planning another initiative to buy artillery ammunition for Ukraine in 2025.
