Russian Forces Test New Drones on Cities

Russia has been testing a new type of called Molniya in the field since May. This could be bad for Ukrainian cities.

On 12, forces launched two at , which hit residential areas and hurt three civilians. The attacks may show that Russia is trying test drones against civilian targets.

The first drone happened at 1:55 pm in the northern part of Kharkiv. It injured two people. A second attack, which occurred at 3:35 pm, targeted an apartment building. One person, a 70-year-old man, was hurt in this attack.

Molniya drones are from cheap materials like plywood and aluminum tubes. They can carry explosives and have a range of up to 40 kilometers. However, they are not very effective in combat, with only one out of eight strikes hitting their target.

Russia has been testing Molniya drones extensively since May. This could mean that Ukrainian cities will face a new threat from these drones.
