Russian Forces Make Progress Donetsk, but Quick Encirclement Unlikely

Russian forces are making steady progress in western Donetsk, a region of Ukraine. They have taken control of some areas and are trying to capture more.

Recently, Russian forces captured the city of . This has helped them support their ongoing attacks in western Donetsk. They are now focusing two other cities: Pokrovsk and .

Despite heavy losses, Russia is making gains using a tactic called “meat .” This means they are attacking directly, with many soldiers pushing forward at once. In some areas, Ukrainian forces are outnumbered 8 to by Russian forces, leading to retreats.

Russian forces are trying to encircle Kurakhove from multiple directions. They are also working to level the frontline between Sontsivka, Shakhtarske, and Kurakhove. This means they want to create a stable front line in these areas.
