Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, spoke at the COP29 leaders‘ summit. He talked about the urgent need for global action to tackle climate change.
Kobakhidze said that climate change is hurting developing countries and threatening the lives of people in vulnerable communities. He also mentioned that Georgia is facing severe consequences of climate change.
The Prime Minister thanked Azerbaijan for hosting the conference and for the warm hospitality. He wished Azerbaijan success in achieving good results from the conference.
Kobakhidze emphasized that climate change is a pressing issue that requires urgent action and cooperation. He noted that conflicts are making it harder to address this problem.
Climate change is causing big problems, including melting glaciers and rising sea levels. This is disrupting economies and threatening lives in many countries. The Prime Minister said that Georgia is not an exception to these challenges.
The awareness of the connection between human rights and ecology has increased in recent years, Kobakhidze said.
