**Trump Names New Ambassador to Ukraine**
The US Ambassador to Ukraine position has been empty for a while. But now, sources in Washington say John E. Herbst is being considered for the role.
Herbst served as Ambassador to Ukraine from 2003 to 2006. He helped ensure a peaceful resolution during the Orange Revolution, when pro–democracy protests broke out after a fraudulent election.
**A Strong Advocate for Ukraine**
Herbst now works at the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center. He frequently visits Ukraine and has advocated for strong military support. He sees Russia’s actions as a threat to Ukrainian independence.
**US Foreign Policy Team Takes Shape**
The Trump administration is preparing to push for talks between Moscow and Kyiv. This could lead to a situation where Ukraine’s NATO aspirations are put on hold for 20 years.
Meanwhile, President Zelenskyy’s office is preparing to replace the current US Ambassador to Ukraine with a new candidate.
**Key Posts Filled**
The UN Ambassador position has been filled by Elise Stefanik. Mike Huckabee will be the new envoy to Israel.
Other key posts in Trump’s foreign policy team include Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, Michael Waltz as National Security Advisor, and Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary.
