Leaders of the opposition group “Strong Georgia” were questioned by a prosecutor in a court case about possible election fraud.
One of the leaders, Badri Japaridze, was interrogated. After the questioning, he said that they had provided information to the prosecutor’s office about some problems with the elections.
Japaridze stated that it is the job of the prosecutor’s office to investigate and gather evidence. He said that they had pointed out information that is already publicly available.
According to Japaridze, there were too many people gathered in front of a polling station, trying to influence voters. He also mentioned two other problems: voting with an expired passport and kicking out an observer who was physically assaulted.
This questioning is part of a larger investigation into possible election fraud. The prosecutor’s office has been talking to several opposition leaders and representatives from the non-governmental sector.
The prosecutor’s office claims that they have also questioned some people from the Central Election Commission, but they are not naming names.
