**Georgia‘s Independence Questioned by European Parliament**
MP Guram Macharashvili of the “People’s Power” party is speaking out against a resolution adopted by the European Parliament. According to him, the resolution is an attempt to control Georgia’s laws and decisions.
The European Parliament passed a resolution before the elections in Georgia, which told the country that if they did not legalize same-sex marriage and increase the number of married men, they would not be accepted into the European Union. This is unacceptable, says Macharashvili.
**A Question of Sovereignty**
Macharashvili argues that this is a question of sovereignty. If in the Soviet Union it was the decision of the Kremlin, now it is the decision of Brussels. What’s the difference? he asks.
He points out that the vast majority of the American public supports similar laws, and yet the European Parliament is opposing them. He suggests that this is an attempt to impose liberal-fascism on Georgia.
**The Value of Family and Traditions**
Macharashvili emphasizes that the European value is not the legalization of same-sex marriage, but rather the family and traditions. He believes that the European Parliament should respect Georgia’s independence and sovereignty.
According to him, the opposition could not provide any evidence as to why same-sex marriage should not be legalized in Georgia. He wants an answer to this question: if Georgia does not legalize same-sex marriage and increase the number of married men, what hinders their European integration?
**A Call for Independence**
Macharashvili concludes that Georgia is an independent country and should make its own decisions. He believes that the country should not be controlled by Brussels or any other external power.
