**New Power Units Under Construction in Ukraine**
The South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant is getting ready to build two new power units. These units will use technology from the US company Westinghouse. The plant’s statement said that geological studies have been done and a construction site has been chosen.
**Important Role of Nuclear Power**
Ukraine gets over half of its energy from nuclear power. This is because Russia‘s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have made it harder for the country to get enough energy. The South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant already has three operating units that make 3,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity.
**Other Plans**
Ukraine also wants to build a new nuclear plant in Cherkasy Oblast. This will use Westinghouse reactors again. The people who run the plant have been given permission by the local council to start building.
