**Court Dismisses Opposition Lawsuits Over Election Results**
A court in Tbilisi, Georgia has dismissed lawsuits filed by opposition parties over alleged voting secrecy violations during the recent parliamentary elections. The plaintiffs, including “The Unity—National Movement” and “Strong Georgia”, as well as the Association of Young Lawyers of Georgia, claimed that voters’ choices were visible on ballots.
**Opposition Protests**
This ruling comes amid large-scale protests in Tbilisi, sparked by the disputed results. Opposition parties have refused to recognize the victory claimed by the ruling Georgian Dream party, which has close ties to Russia.
**Judge’s Decision**
Judge Iveri Abashidze dismissed the lawsuits as “groundless”. The cases were consolidated into a single trial with the Central Election Commission (CEC) as the defendant. Tamar Kordzaya, a representative of the opposition coalition, accused the judge of disregarding evidence and claimed that the issue had been “pre-decided”.
**Final Chance to Challenge Results**
The opposition has one final chance to challenge the results after the CEC publishes its final protocol on November 21.
