Former Georgian Defense Minister Speaks Out on “Arrest” in Absentia
Davit Kezerashvili, the former Minister of Defense of Georgia, has spoken out about being charged with a crime in absentia by Russian authorities. In a statement on social media, he expressed his lack of concern for the details of the case.
Kezerashvili stated that he is not surprised by the move, as he has been an enemy of Russia’s criminal authorities and their proxies for 12 years. He claimed that they have been trying to discredit and neutralize him since then, initiating cases in Georgia and running smear campaigns both within and outside the country.
The former minister suggested that Russia’s involvement may be connected to a recent announcement by the Georgian Dream party about investigating the 2008 war. Kezerashvili is confident that these efforts will ultimately fail, saying “the free world will definitely win.”
According to Russian media reports, law enforcement officers have issued an international search for Kezerashvili, charging him with large-scale fraud. A Moscow court allegedly arrested him in absentia.
