**North Korea May Send 100,000 Troops to Aid Russia**
Security experts think North Korea might send up to 100,000 soldiers to help Russia in its war against Ukraine. This would be a big change in the relationship between Pyongyang and Moscow.
According to Bloomberg, North Korea has already been supplying Russia with guns, missiles, and thousands of troops. Russia is getting ready for an attack in the Kursk Oblast area. The Ukrainian army currently controls 600 square kilometers of land they took from Russia in August.
**Troops Would Come in Rotations**
The deployment would likely happen gradually, with groups of soldiers coming and going instead of a single large force. This way, losses can be replaced and the troops remain effective.
Ukraine’s ambassador to South Korea said that up to 15,000 North Korean soldiers might be sent to fight in Russia’s Kursk Oblast and possibly in eastern Ukraine as well. The Russian defense ministry thinks this rotation is necessary because North Korean forces would otherwise quickly become ineffective.
**Concerns from Allies**
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has spoken out strongly against the deployment, calling it a “grave escalation” of the war. He plans to talk to Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 Summit in Brazil and ask for China’s help to prevent further escalation.
The situation is causing concern among Ukraine’s allies because it could make Europe‘s largest conflict since World War II even bigger. It also affects the balance of power in the Indo-Pacific region.
