**New Drink Emerges in Wine Homeland**
A new drink has appeared in the country where wine is a big deal. Three friends, Beka Gujejiani, Kote Gunia, and Giorgi Korsantia, created Georgian gin called “Malamo”. They started with a joke, but it turned into a serious project.
**From Idea to Product**
The founders worked on the concept, design, and packaging first. Then they looked for experts to help them create the recipe. However, this didn’t go as planned. They even took online courses on distillation and tried many different versions. When that didn’t work out, they decided to look elsewhere.
**Finding Help in a Tough Time**
The founders found gin technologists from outside of Georgia, despite the challenges of war in Ukraine. These experts helped them create several promising recipe variations. The collaboration led to a breakthrough, and the friends were able to transform their creation into a product.
**Unique Taste and Packaging**
“Malamo” has a special flavor with many different aromas. The founders believe it’s the right time to introduce a local gin as more Georgians are starting to like gin. They also want to sell “Malamo” in other countries.
**Brand Concept and Design**
The brand concept is about being local and related to medicine. The name “Ointment” fits well with this idea. The bottle design features an image of Medea, a woman from Greek mythology who symbolizes medicine and sensuality. A Georgian artist helped create the visual identity.
**Positive Feedback and Future Plans**
So far, people have been surprised by the packaging and quality of “Malamo”. The founders want to be known for excellence and offer a unique experience. They’re refining their product and experimenting with other gin styles, which will lead to more limited releases. Their goal is to establish a distillery and sell “Malamo” in foreign markets.
