**Church Leader Asks Ex-President to End Hunger Strike**
The leader of the Georgian Orthodox Church has asked ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili to stop his hunger strike. This happened when a representative of the church, Archpriest Mikael Botkoveli, visited Saakashvili in prison.
Saakashvili has been on hunger strike for a week to protest his arrest. He claims he is being held unfairly and wants to meet with the Ukrainian Consul. The ex-president also wants Ukraine’s leader, President Volodymyr Zelensky, to help him return to Ukraine.
The church representative told Saakashvili that continuing the hunger strike is not a Christian thing to do. This is a common message given by the church in similar situations.
