**NGOs Slam Government’s Anti-European Stance**

Non-governmental (NGOs) Georgia are speaking out against the government’s recent anti-European statements. The groups say these comments go against the will of the people and the country’s .

One of the main issues is a statement by , the general secretary of the ruling party Georgian Dream and mayor of Tbilisi. He said: “No union is worth giving up the interests of my country and people.”

The NGOs are concerned that this kind of talk is part of a larger trend. They point to a recent anti-Western campaign and attempts to adopt Russian laws as evidence that Georgian Dream wants to change the country’s western course.

** Want Euro-Atlantic Integration**

According to of the Constitution of Georgia, the government is supposed to work towards joining the European Union and NATO. The NGOs say this is what the Georgian people want, not the opposite.

The statement from the NGOs is signed by over 30 groups, including Center, Democracy Institute, and Tbilisi Pride. They remind the government that it’s their duty to follow the Constitution and the will of the people.
