A group of Georgian MPs visited Wales recently. The team was led by Nikoloz Samkharadze, who is in charge of foreign relations in the Georgian Parliament.
The visitors also included Zaza Lominadze (healthcare), Givi Chichinadze (diaspora and Caucasus issues), and David Kacharava (sports and youth issues). During their visit, they met with key people in Wales.
**Meetings with Welsh Officials**
The MPs spoke with the Deputy Presiding Officer of the Senate of Wales, David Rees. They also talked to Jayne Bryant, who heads the Education Committee in Wales.
They discussed ways to improve relations between Georgia and Wales. This includes cooperation on education, youth, culture, and healthcare.
**Other Meetings**
The Georgian team met with Mick Antoniw, the Minister of the Constitution in Wales. They talked about reforms in Wales and the situation in Ukraine. The MPs also spoke with Jessica Morden and Kevin Brennan, who represent Wales in the British Parliament.
“We looked at ways to strengthen our partnership with Great Britain,” said Samkharadze. “We told them about Georgia’s security and economic reforms.”
**Other Activities**
The visitors met with the twin cities association (Newport and Kutaisi). They talked about cultural and sports projects, as well as helping Georgian students.
Chichinadze also met with the Georgian Diaspora to hear their needs and discuss ways to promote Georgian culture.
