EU to Give Directly to Georgian ?

The European Union might not give money directly to the . Instead, it could be given to non-governmental (NGOs). This is what Josep , the EU’ official for foreign relations and security issues, said.

Georgian Dream deputy Irakli Kadagishvili responded to this idea. He said that giving the 100 million dollars elsewhere would not hurt Georgia’s government or people. “No pensioner, police officer, soldier, or person in need will lose any money,” he explained.

Kadagishvili thinks it is a shame that the EU has only given about 100 million dollars to Georgia over 34 years. This is out of a total for Georgia of 28 billion dollars. The government has always spent its money openly and honestly, Kadagishvili said.

He asked a question: “Do Mr. Borrell think NGOs should spend the 100 million as transparently as our government does? Or will it become ‘black money’?”

The Georgian Dream party thinks that EU representatives helped the opposition in their campaign. This is against law and democracy, Kadagishvili said.
