US Allows Ukraine to Use ATACMS Missiles in Russia
There is a growing concern that the UK might change its policy on using missiles inside Russia. This comes after reports emerged that the US had lifted its ban on Ukraine using their ATACMS missiles.
The New York Times reported that anonymous US officials said the Biden Administration allowed Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles within Russia. Other outlets, like Le Figaro, also reported that France and the UK had authorized Ukraine to use their Scalp/Storm Shadow missiles against Russian targets.
However, there is a catch. The permission only applies to one region of Russia – Kursk Oblast, where North Korean troops are deployed. It’s not clear if other parts of Russia are included.
The UK government has refused to confirm or deny any changes in its policy. A spokesperson said the UK works closely with allies and provides support to Ukraine as needed. She did not provide further details.
This news comes at a time when there is an ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The US and other countries have provided military aid to Ukraine, but the details of their policies are often kept secret.
