US Allows Ukraine to Strike Targets in Russia
The US has given permission for Ukraine to attack Russian targets with American-made missiles. This was confirmed by the European Union’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell.
Borrell said that the Biden administration had changed its mind and now allows Ukraine to use its ATACMS missiles against targets up to 300 kilometers inside Russia. However, it is not clear what specific targets will be hit or when this permission will be used.
The authorization was confirmed by Borrell after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels. He said that the American administration had previously refused to allow Ukraine to use its missiles on Russian soil. Now, they have given their approval.
Borrell couldn’t explain why the US decided to give permission for long-range strikes now, instead of before the presidential election. He said that this decision is up to the White House.
