New Elections Needed in Georgia, Says President
The president of Georgia says new elections are needed. She made this announcement at a press briefing.
New elections will be held soon. But for now, the country’s current situation remains the same until October 26. The president said it is not possible to form a parliament, government, or hold presidential elections before then.
Mamuka Mdinaradze, an official with the party “Georgian Dream”, disagreed with the president on social media. He said she had presented evidence of vote falsification.
The president said that up to 400,000 votes were forged in the last election. She also said the actual turnout was lower than reported. Mamuka Mdinaradze wrote: “It’s not clear why others didn’t speak out earlier.”
He seems confused about what happened and is demanding change. He wants the parliament and prime minister to stay, but for himself to be removed from power.
