**Policemen Physically Assault Protestors**
Lawyers claim that 4 people were physically attacked by police during a confrontation on Melikishvili Avenue. The lawyer, Lasha Tkesheladze, said that the officers used violence against the protestors.
Tkesheladze visited three of the people who were beaten and spoke to them about their experiences. He said they told him that some of the arrested men were also raped by police while in custody.
**Police Actions Questioned**
Tkesheladze described the law enforcement officers involved as “not law enforcement officers, but criminals”. He said the 16 people arrested at the rally had not committed any crime.
The police arrested 16 people during the confrontation. Three of them were later released with a handwritten note. Ten are being held in the Zahesi detention center, while three are being kept at the Dighom division.
