**Ukraine President Says US Holds Key to Ending War**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that ending the war in Ukraine depends more on the United States than on Russia. In an interview with Fox News, published on November 19, Zelensky said that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is weaker” and that even more weight rests on the US.
The interview came as Ukraine marked the 1,000th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion. This milestone coincides with uncertainty about future US military aid to Ukraine, given that President-elect Donald Trump is set to take office in January.
When asked if Putin could decide to end the war, Zelensky replied that a lot depends on him, but even more on the US. “Putin is weaker than the U.S. The U.S. president has the strength, authority, and weapons,” he said.
**US Strength Can Influence Russia**
Zelensky also believes that Trump will be able to influence Putin to end the war, although it won’t be easy. He added that Trump’s presidency makes Ukraine stronger because “he’s stronger” and “the U.S. is stronger.” This opinion suggests that Zelensky views Trump as a more effective leader than Putin.
However, Zelensky warned that if US aid to Ukraine is cut, the country risks losing the war. “Of course, anyway, we will stay, and we will fight,” he said. “We have production, but it’s not enough to prevail.”
**Uncertainty Surrounds US Aid**
Trump promised during his campaign to end Russia’s war with Ukraine if elected. However, this promise has created uncertainty about future aid, particularly given that Russian forces are making significant gains in recent months.
In response to the changing situation, Zelensky congratulated Trump on his election victory and expressed optimism that he would negotiate a deal “that’s good for both sides.”
