**Georgian President Discusses Election Issues with German Official**
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, met the Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag, Anton Hofreiter. He was in Georgia as part of his visit to the South Caucasus.
At a meeting held at the Orbeliani Palace, the Georgian President talked about problems with the October 26 parliamentary elections. She said that there were serious and systematic violations during the election period. These made it hard for voters’ wills to be expressed freely and secretly.
The President also discussed how Russia is waging a “hybrid war” in the country. This means that they are using many different methods to try and gain control, rather than just using force.
Zurabishvili told Hofreiter about her plan to get out of this situation. She wants to use international support to hold new elections. She also wants to take part in legal fights to make sure the country is run fairly.
**A Path Towards Europe**
The President emphasized again how important it is for Georgia to follow a European path. She said that this is what the Georgian people want, and that they are committed to being part of Europe.
