**Ukraine Fires UK-Supplied Missiles at Russian Targets**
The Ukrainian military has used British-supplied missiles, called Storm Shadow, against targets in Russia. This is the first time these long-range missiles have been fired by Ukraine.
**Previous Restrictions**
Until now, Ukraine was only allowed to use these missiles within its own borders. But with permission from Washington, Ukraine can now fire US-supplied missiles at Russian territory as well.
**UK Response**
The UK government has not commented on the reports of missile strikes due to concerns about Russia’s reaction and how it might look if they seemed to be in charge. Defence Secretary John Healey said simply that “Ukraine’s action on the battlefield speaks for itself.”
**US Statement**
The US State Department also refused to comment on the use of UK-supplied missiles or whether they were helping with navigation. The US has, however, approved sending landmines to Ukraine to slow down Russian troops.
**Storm Shadow Missiles**
These missiles are considered ideal for hitting strong bunkers and ammunition stores, like those used by Russia in its war against Ukraine. They can travel around 250km (155 miles) before reaching their target.
