New CEC Member to Leave Position
Davit Kirtadze, a representative of the “National Movement” party in the Central Election Commission (CEC), will have to leave his position. This is because he was fined for interfering with the commission’s work.
Kirtadze was given 500 GEL fine by a court in Tbilisi. He smeared black paint on CEC chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili at a meeting on November 16. The court decision states that Kirtadze cannot be a member of the CEC for four years.
This is according to Article 10, Clause 5, Sub-Clause of the Election Code. It says that someone who breaks election rules can’t be appointed as a CEC member for four years after the court makes its decision.
