**New Parliament to Meet on October 25**
The first session of the new Georgian Parliament will take place on October 25. This is unusual because the President, who normally opens the session, has not scheduled one for this time.
According to rules, in this situation, the oldest member of parliament will open the session. That person is Lado Kakhadze from “Georgian Dream”.
**Who Will Be Present?**
For the Parliament to officially start working, most members (76 out of 90) must be present at the first session.
Initially, a new commission will register all the members of parliament and confirm their attendance by signing a form. Two temporary commissions – one for counting votes and another for handling mandates – will also be formed.
**Temporary Commissions**
The vote-counting commission has 11 members and is responsible for organizing elections within the Parliament. It will stop working once the first session’s agenda is completed.
The mandate commission has 17 members and will verify who has the right to sit in parliament. This will include making sure that no one whose election was challenged or considered questionable by the Constitutional Court or General Court can participate.
**Parliament’s Authority**
The Parliament will get its official authority once two-thirds of all members recognize each other as legitimate. At this point, the old Parliament’s power will end.
**Taking an Oath**
After recognizing their colleagues’ authority, parliamentarians will take an oath to be loyal to Georgia and uphold its constitutional order and laws.
**Next Steps**
The first session will focus on electing a Speaker of the Parliament, Vice-Speakers, and Committee Chairmen. Once this is done, the new Parliament can start working.
