Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has made a statement about the first session of the new Parliament in Georgia. He said that he did not invite representatives from other countries to this event.
Mr. Papuashvili told journalists that this was a celebration for the Georgian people and should be attended by only Georgians. He explained that invitations had been sent out to government members and officials before the first session.
The Speaker also stated that ambassadors and diplomats were not needed at this meeting because it was an internal matter. He wanted to keep the focus on the Georgian Parliament and its people, rather than involving foreign representatives.
Mr. Papuashvili emphasized that the first session of the new Parliament would be a celebration for the Georgian people. It is expected to have government members, constitutional bodies, and newly elected MPs in attendance.
