Sociologist Asks if Gakharia‘s Team is Delaying Exit for Better Timing
A sociologist named Iago Kachkachishvili has written on social media that he can’t believe Giorgi Gakharia and his team are not trying to make their resistance look stronger. According to him, it seems like they’re waiting for a better time to leave the parliament.
Gakharia’s team says they won’t legitimize the elections and parliament. Kachkachishvili thinks that if they regularly attend parliament sessions now, they won’t be able to make it look like they’re resisting strongly later on.
In fact, Gakharia’s party “Gakharia for Georgia” has said they won’t apply to the parliament to cancel their mandates right away. They think the process will take several months.
A member of Gakharia’s team, Giorgi Sharashidze, said they’ll apply to cancel their mandates when it’s the best time. He said that could be soon or later, depending on what happens.
Kachkachishvili thinks people should not believe the government’s story about how Gakharia’s team is delaying this act of resistance. He says they’re actually trying to make it look stronger for a better time.
