**Ukraine Receives $4.8 Billion Loan from World Bank**
The Ukrainian government has signed a loan agreement with the World Bank worth $4.8 billion. The funds will be used to cover priority expenses in the state budget.
Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko and the World Bank’s Kevin Tomlinson signed the agreement on November 22. This loan is part of the Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance (PEACE) project, which aims to support Ukraine’s economy during the ongoing Russian invasion.
**Support from International Partners**
The loan includes financial assistance from the United States and other international partners. The US government has provided funding through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and in coordination with the Departments of the Treasury and State.
The funds will be transferred to Ukraine’s state budget under the PEACE project. So far, about $35.5 billion has been allocated since the start of the full-scale invasion to support social expenses in Ukraine.
**Funding Priorities**
The loan funds are being used primarily for:
* Payments for pensions and grants for internally displaced persons
* Wages for teachers, first responders, and emergency services staff
These allocations aim to support vulnerable groups during this challenging time.
