Switzerland Bans Export to Polish Company
The Swiss government has stopped exporting goods to a Polish company. This decision was made because the company had sold 645,000 Swiss-made bullets to Ukraine without permission.
Switzerland has strict laws about selling military equipment to other countries. It only sells this kind of equipment within its own borders or to other European countries that have similar rules. But in this case, the Polish company broke these rules and sold the bullets to Ukraine.
The investigation found out that the Polish company had not kept its promise to sell the bullets only within Poland. Instead, it sent them to Ukraine. This is against Swiss law because Ukraine is at war with Russia.
Switzerland has given over $3 billion in aid to Ukraine since the start of the war. However, it has not provided any military help and has maintained a neutral policy. This decision has caused some tension with other European countries that want Switzerland to change its laws.
The head of the Swiss government, President Viola Amherd, wants to change this law so that Switzerland can sell weapons to countries at war, including Ukraine. She believes this would be good for Switzerland’s economy and security.
