**Georgian President Warns of Russian Rule**
The new Georgian parliament is not a democratic institution, according to the country’s president. Salome Zourabichvili says that anyone who enters the parliament will be entering a “Russian” system.
This warning comes after widely disputed elections in October. The opposition and international observers claim there was widespread fraud and intimidation during the vote. Zourabichvili has refused to accept the results, calling for public protests and a boycott of the parliament.
**Election Fiasco**
Officially, the ruling party Georgian Dream secured 54% of the vote. But pro-EU opposition leaders and international observers say this is not true. They claim there was widespread ballot-stuffing, vote-buying, and intimidation.
The disputed results have sparked large-scale protests in Tbilisi, with police arresting demonstrators on November 18. Zourabichvili insists that if Georgian Dream continues to stand by the election results, they will govern alone.
**One-Party Rule**
Zourabichvili says that the current parliament is a one-party institution, controlled by a single person. She warns that entering this system means accepting Russian rule in Georgia.
The situation has sparked fears of authoritarianism and human rights abuses in the country.
