**Ukraine Does Not Have Systems to Destroy Russian Missiles**
Right now, Ukraine does not have the technology to stop Russian intermediate-range ballistic missiles. These are powerful rockets that can travel long distances and cause a lot of damage.
Russia’s leader, Vladimir Putin, has said that these types of missiles cannot be stopped. But experts disagree with him. They say that some air defense systems can destroy these kinds of missiles.
**Recent Attack**
Recently, Russia attacked the city of Dnipro with one of these intermediate-range ballistic missiles. Ukraine was able to identify it and is still investigating the damage.
**Experts Say Some Systems Can Stop These Missiles**
Fabian Hoffmann, a researcher at the Oslo Nuclear Project, says that some US and Israeli-made missile defense systems can stop these types of missiles. He mentioned several systems, including SM-3 from Aegis or Aegis Ashore, Arrow 3, and THAAD.
**Economic Factor is a Challenge**
While these systems can stop the missiles, it’s expensive to buy them in large numbers. Ukraine would need many interceptors to stop all the warheads of an intermediate-range ballistic missile.
**Ukraine Is Asking for Help**
The government in Kyiv has started talking to Washington about getting an air defense system that can protect against this type of attack. They are considering either upgrading their existing Patriot system or buying a THAAD system.
