Georgian Parliament Protest Warning
A Georgian MP has warned protesters not to disrupt the country’s parliament. Nino Tsilosani wrote on social media that creating anarchy is a crime.
Tsilosani also responded to President Salome Zurabishvili‘s post about the Ministry of Internal Affairs‘ statement. The President had called it a threat to democracy.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs had warned protesters not to break the law during tomorrow’s protest action. They said blocking important buildings or objects is against the law and can lead to punishment.
President Salome Zurabishvili disagreed with this statement, calling it a restriction on people’s right to demonstrate. She compared it to Russian–style governance.
The police will take measures if protesters break the law. The law does not allow blocking of strategic or special importance facilities.
