Russia has hired hundreds of fighters from Yemen to fight in Ukraine, according to a report by the Financial Times.
These recruits were promised good jobs and high salaries. However, when they arrived in Russia, they were forced into the army and sent to fight in Ukraine. The report calls this operation a “shadowy trafficking” of people.
Russia is having trouble finding enough soldiers to fight in Ukraine. They have lost many men on the battlefield. So, they are recruiting fighters from other countries. This includes Nepal, Somalia, India, Cuba, and others.
North Korea has also sent around 10,000 soldiers to Russia. Many of these soldiers are fighting in Ukraine. The US government is concerned about this because it means that North Korean soldiers will be trained by Russian forces.
Russia and Yemen have been working together for a long time. They use each other’s technology and resources. Recently, they used satellite data to attack ships in the Red Sea with drones and missiles.
