**First Session of Parliament Begins**

The first session of the XI convocation has started. Senior member is in charge, but he will not be speaking for long. A new Speaker will soon be elected.

Only members from the “Georgian Dream” party are present. Their leader, Bidzina Ivanishvili, is among them. 88 parliament members have registered so .

The session has invited heads of bodies and clergy only. The first task is create two temporary commissions: a vote counting commission and a mandate commission. This process is currently underway.

**Temporary Commissions Created**

Two new commissions will be formed. The vote counting commission, with 11 members, will oversee the process and count votes. It will stop working once all agenda items are done.

The mandate commission, made up of 17 members, will study documents from the Central Commission (CEC) to recognize parliament members’ powers. Its work will end when the committee procedural issues is formed.

**New Parliament Takes Power**

When two-thirds of the full composition of parliament recognizes its authority, the new parliament will take power. The old one will cease to exist at that moment. Then, parliament members will take oath to the country and sign it.

The first session will continue until all important tasks are completed, such as electing a Speaker, Vice-Speakers, and committee chairmen.

**Political Parties in Parliament**

According to CEC results, five parties entered the XI . “Georgian Dream” has 89 mandates, making them the majority. Other parties have fewer seats: “Coalition for Changes” (), “Unity – National Movement” (16), “Strong Georgia” (14), and “Gakharia for Georgia” (12).
