New Parliament in Georgia Meets for First Time
The new parliament in Georgia met for the first time. Shalva Papuashvili, a candidate for the chairmanship, spoke at the meeting.
Papuashvili said he wants to thank the people of Georgia. He said they “wisely foresaw the situation” and did not support anyone who would deceive them. Instead, they voted for the party called Georgian Dream, which has been in charge for many years.
Papuashvili also talked about people from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region. These regions are separate from the rest of Georgia, but Papuashvili wants to include their representatives in parliament. He said that is how he imagines a “full-fledged” parliament.
A month ago, elections were held in Georgia. The party Georgian Dream won again, with most seats in the new parliament.
