**Ukraine’s Drone Coalition Gets €1.8 Billion Boost**
The International Drone Coalition, a group of 17 countries supporting Ukraine’s Armed Forces, has increased its contributions to €1.8 billion. This announcement was made by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on social media.
**What is the Drone Coalition?**
The Drone Coalition was formed in February 2024 as part of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. Its main goal is to help Ukraine become a leader in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology. The coalition focuses on delivering advanced drones for reconnaissance and combat purposes, making Ukraine’s military more effective against Russian aggression.
**Boosting Contributions**
The increased contributions from member countries will give Ukraine a technological edge on the battlefield. This will enable the country to launch more effective strikes against Russian forces, according to Umerov. Latvia has committed €20 million this year, with at least €10 million for domestic procurement and €5 million for joint purchases.
**Training Ukrainian Soldiers**
Latvia has also signed an agreement to train Ukrainian soldiers in drone piloting programs. This is part of the country’s efforts to enhance Ukraine’s military capabilities.
**Ukrainian President’s Plans**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced plans to produce at least 30,000 long-range drones and 3,000 missiles, including drone missiles, in 2025. Efforts are also being made to enhance defenses against Shahed-type attack drones using FPV technology.
