**Women Face Growing Persecution in Crimea**
Since Russia took control of Crimea in 2014, at least 26 women have faced criminal prosecution. Many more have been subjected to administrative pressure. This is according to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
The human rights situation in Crimea has worsened since Russia’s takeover. The UN has documented many abuses, including unlawful detentions and torture. These actions are mostly aimed at Crimean Tatars and those who support Ukraine.
**Five Women Held in Prison**
Currently, five women are being held in penal colonies. One of them is Iryna Horobtsova, who was accused of espionage by Russian authorities and sentenced to 10.5 years in prison.
Another four women are in pre-trial detention centers, while four more are under restrictions or probation. Dozens of women have also faced administrative persecution.
**370 People Have Become Political Prisoners**
Since Russia took control of Crimea, a total of 370 people have become political prisoners and faced persecution. This is a significant number, highlighting the extent of human rights abuses in the region.
**Ukraine Will Not Give Up Crimea**
The Chairman of Ukraine’s Parliament has stated that Ukraine will never give up Crimea or any other temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory. He emphasized that fighting against occupation is not only about national sovereignty but also about justice for the people of Crimea, particularly the Crimean Tatars.
