New Georgian Foreign Minister Criticized by Opposition
The opposition in Georgia is not happy with the new appointment of a minister. Maka Bochorishvili has been named as the country’s foreign affairs minister.
The opposition says this will worsen relations between Georgia and the West. They claim she will do whatever her boss, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, tells her to do.
In an interview, Salome Samadashvili from the “Strong Georgia” coalition said Bochorishvili is just a “slave” who will repeat what Kobakhidze says. She claimed this will lead to relations with Western countries getting even worse.
The opposition had called for the resignation of the previous foreign affairs minister, Ilia Darchiashvili. They say he was better than Bochorishvili because at least he would make his own decisions.
Samadashvili said that during the time of another government, “National Movement”, Bochorishvili was a complete follower. Then she worked for Bidzina Ivanishvili’s regime, where she followed instructions without question.
