A former Russian nuclear forces officer has given rare insight into Russia‘s top-secret nuclear weapons base. The man, named Anton, talked to the BBC about his experiences in early 2022.
Russia is using its nuclear forces to try and scare other countries into not helping Ukraine. They are threatening to use their nuclear power if the EU and US give military aid to Ukraine.
**Nuclear Base on High Alert**
On February 24th, 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Anton’s nuclear weapons base was put on high alert. This is according to his own words in the BBC interview.
