**Georgia‘s Foreign Policy to Remain Firm and Pragmatic**
The government program presented by Prime Minister candidate Irakli Kobakhidze to the Parliament outlines Georgia’s foreign policy goals for the next few years. The country will continue to follow a firm, pragmatic, and results-oriented policy.
**Turbulent International Scene**
According to the government program, the international scene has been marked by unprecedented turbulence since 2020. The Russia-Ukraine war has created an existential threat to both European and global security. Despite this challenging environment, Georgia’s foreign policy has remained strong and consistent, based on fundamental values and international law.
**Priority on Unifying and Restoring Territorial Integrity**
The Georgian government considers unifying the country and restoring territorial integrity as its top priority. To achieve this goal, it will continue to actively work with diplomatic and legal levers to de-occupy the occupied territories of Georgia. This includes implementing the August 12, 2008 cease-fire agreement concluded by Russia with EU mediation.
**Cooperation with International Organizations**
The government will also continue active cooperation with individual countries and relevant international organizations to place priority issues related to the peaceful settlement of the Russia-Georgia conflict on the international agenda. Steps will be taken to prevent refugees and ensure their return, as well as protect human rights in the occupied territories.
