US Not Confirming North Korean Troops in Ukraine
The US Department of Defense says it has no evidence that North Korean soldiers are in Ukraine. Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh made this statement during a press briefing on November 25.
Singh said the Pentagon had not seen any signs of North Korean troops in Ukraine. However, anonymous Ukrainian military and security sources told CNN earlier that they were present in some areas. The Ukrainian military later denied this claim.
North Korea has been helping Russia with its war against Ukraine. It has supplied millions of artillery shells to Russia and deployed 11,000 soldiers to Russia’s Kursk Oblast. When asked about reports that 500 North Korean soldiers had died in Kursk Oblast, Singh said the US couldn’t confirm this.
US to Help Fix Ukrainian Infrastructure
The US is looking for contractors to help repair and maintain Ukraine’s infrastructure. However, no contractors have entered Ukraine yet. The Pentagon is still working with Ukrainian officials to understand the damage caused by a Russian missile in Dnipro City.
Singh also said that the US wouldn’t comment on reports of potential anti-personnel landmine shipments to Ukraine. This information would be shared by Ukrainian officials if needed.
