**Opposition Coalition Asks to Withdraw from Elections**
The opposition coalition Unity–National Movement has asked the Central Election Commission (CEC) to withdraw its party list. This was announced by Sopo Japaridze, leader of the Tbilisi organization of the coalition.
Japaridze said that the decision was made because they do not recognize the results of the elections. If CEC head Giorgi Kalandarishvili approves their request, the coalition will take further steps to ensure that the current Parliament is not legitimate.
**Why Did They Ask to Withdraw?**
According to Japaridze, this move is a protest against the election results and the legitimacy of the new Parliament. The first session of Parliament was held on November 25, where all 150 MPs were recognized by the Parliament.
**Not Alone in Their Demand**
The Unity-National Movement is not the only opposition force to ask for withdrawal from elections. Two other coalitions, Strong Georgia and Coalition for Change, have also made similar requests. However, one party that has been vocal about the rigged election results, For Georgia, led by ex-PM Giorgi Gakharia, has yet to formally ask for withdrawal.
