**Georgia’s Foreign Policy Priorities**
A new Minister of Foreign Affairs for Georgia is being considered, Maka Bochorishvili. She recently spoke at a joint session of committees in the Parliament about her views on foreign policy.
According to Bochorishvili, maintaining good relations with the USA and Europe is crucial. This includes restoring equal relations based on justice and taking into account both parties’ interests. The Georgian government aims to reset its relationship with the US.
Bochorishvili also emphasized the importance of peaceful settlement of the Russia-Georgia conflict. She wants Georgia’s territorial integrity to be respected, and the country to work actively towards this goal. This includes using diplomatic and legal means to de-occupy areas controlled by Russia.
**European Integration**
Bochorishvili stressed that Georgia is on an irreversible path of European integration. The country’s main priority will be its relationship with NATO and the EU. Georgia aims to become a member of the EU, and for this to happen, dialogue with partners is necessary.
The Georgian government plans to work closely with the European Commission to prepare for EU membership in the next 4 years. Regular bilateral consultations between Georgia and its European partners are also planned.
**Humanitarian Assistance**
Bochorishvili also mentioned that Georgia will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine within its capabilities. The country fully supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the diplomatic arena.
