**Czech Republic Extends Ammunition Initiative for Ukraine**
The Czech Republic will continue to supply ammunition to Ukraine beyond this year. This was announced by the country’s Foreign Minister, Jan Lipavský.
A program called “Initiative-2025” has been launched in the Czech Republic to buy more artillery shells for Ukraine. The goal is to get 1-1.5 million rounds by 2025. Five domestic arms manufacturers are working together on this project. They are also getting help from other European countries like Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands.
**Meeting Goals**
The minister said that his country promised to buy half a million large-caliber rounds for Ukraine’s armed forces this year. He stated that they will keep their promise and deliver these shells by the end of the year.
**Continuing Support**
Lipavský noted that even though Ukraine might have enough ammunition for now, it still needs more in 2025. That is why his country is continuing its efforts to supply Ukraine with what it needs. The Czech Republic has already agreed to do this with Denmark and the Netherlands.
**Sourcing Ammunition**
The minister explained that they are not only buying ammunition from European countries but also from other parts of the world. Some of these shells need to be refurbished before being sent to Ukraine. He emphasized that Europe’s defense production needs to increase, and many countries, including Ukraine, are working on this.
**Positive Impact**
Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic reported that over a third of the promised ammunition has already been delivered. He said that this has helped strengthen Ukraine’s defenses during the ongoing war with Russia.
